Raranga

Kotahi te aho ka whati, ki te kāpuia e kore e whati
One strand of flax is easy to break, but many strands together will stand strong.

The kēmu|game prototype Raranga | Weaving our Tangata Tiriti Journeys was developed to equip kaimahi with the skills and knowledge to assist them as Tangata Tiriti. The kēmu centres learning through collaboration, reflecting the practice of raranga where individual strands are woven together to create something stronger, symbolising the collective journey towards understanding and embodying Te Tiriti.

Where We Stand
Design: Wellbeing and Community

Reconnecting to the taiao, the whenua
and the whakapapa of the places we live.

Service & Experience Design
Where We Stand was created in response to the lack of connection between people and the land particularly in urban and suburban areas. Where We Stand is an interactive experience designed to inspire the public to delve into the history of the places on which they stand and the significance of certain sites to tangata whenua.

UOA Design

Project presented at the International Indigenous Research Conference 2024

Working as a Research Assistant, I utilised the key insights and learnings gained as a Tuākana Mentor to explore better ways to support tauira Māori in the design program. Running a series of wānanga, I communicated the concerns, needs and aspirations of our tauira to academic staff members and co-designed a new framework for Māori student success.
Framework: Capacity building to attract and ensure Maaori student success, upholding Tangata Tiriti values throughout the Design Programme.
